What's Included: A thorough, comprehensive evaluation of a vehicle's overall condition, designed to ensure it is safe and functional. While the specific checklist can vary depending on the service package chosen, the provider, and/or dealership, here’s a general idea of what’s typically included in such checkouts:

Exterior Condition

• Body panels: Checking for dents, scratches, rust, and alignment issues.
• Paint: Inspection for paint chips, fading, or mismatches.
• Lights: Testing headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and hazard lights.
• Windshield and windows: Checking for cracks, chips, or window functionality.
• Mirrors: Ensuring side mirrors and rearview mirror are in good condition.
• Tires: Checking for tread wear, damage, and ensuring proper inflation.
• Wipers: Ensuring the wiper blades work and are in good condition.

Interior Condition

• Seats: Inspecting for rips, stains, or excessive wear.
• Dashboard: Checking for cracks, lights, and warning signals.
• Air conditioning and heating: Ensuring both work properly.
• Controls: Testing buttons, knobs, switches, and infotainment systems.
• Upholstery: Checking for cleanliness, tears, or excessive wear.
• Seatbelts: Ensuring they lock and retract correctly.

Engine Compartment

• Engine condition: Checking for leaks, rust, or worn components.
• Oil levels and condition: Ensuring oil is at proper levels and clean.
• Coolant levels: Checking the radiator and cooling system for leaks or damage.
• Belts and hoses: Inspecting for cracks, leaks, or signs of wear.

Transmission and Drivetrain

Documentation and History

• VIN inspection: Verifying the Vehicle Identification Number.
• Service history: Reviewing past maintenance records (if available).
• Technical, functional, performance and practical data on the vehicle including specific benchmarks based on the vehicle’s mileage, along with insights on maintenance and repair costs over time.
• OBD II output including if the vehicle is ready for emissions testing (for applicable vehicle models).

We always aim to perform a road test for every vehicle, but it’s ultimately up to the seller to agree to it.

• We do not raise the car off the ground, but we do include photos and an assessment of visible undercarriage condition in the We Drive You Buy report.
• We do not check the condition of the motor outside starting the vehicle and listening for abnormal sounds (squeaks, rubs, unwanted engine movement).

At the time of order, an authorization hold will be placed on your credit or debit card to reserve the checkout amount. You won’t be invoiced until we’ve scheduled the checkout. This ensures that the Automotive Feedback Specialist is available, the vehicle is present, and the seller has authorized the checkout.

You will be refunded less a service charge for the deployed AFS.

It is important that you notify the seller the vehicle will be test driven by proxy.  Once your AFS is schedule, notify the seller that someone will be checking the vehicle out on your behalf.

We checkout all used passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, SUVs, electric vehicles, and hybrids, whether they are from dealers or private sellers. Our Automotive Feedback Specialists are assigned based on location, vehicle type and specific make and model, particularly for unique or high-end vehicles. We can even checkout vehicles represented as Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) by dealers, provided they allow it.

We do not checkout auction vehicles, as our Automotive Feedback Specialists are not permitted to perform the necessary checks on them (engine bay, road test, electronics, etc.).

Checkouts are typically completed within 48 hours of receiving your request. Delays may occur due to seller availability, dealership hours, or Automotive Feedback Specialist coverage.
